TELEHEALTH
Speech Language and Audiology Canada defines "Telepractice” as the use of technology to deliver audiology and speech–language pathology services at a distance. Telepractice may involve “live” or “store-and-forward” service. Live or real time service may include but is not limited to telephone, or videoconferencing.
-
During this time of social distancing, telepractice is an effective way of maintaining progress and keep from causing major regressions in the learning by providing continued service.
-
As we will be working with clients along with their parents/caregivers, it will help with more success in the client’s natural environment.
-
We can continue to support groups online via videoconferencing, enabling clients to continue to practice even when they are not in the clinic.
Please be advised that telepractice is not a suitable option for all clients. Whether telepractice is appropriate or not will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the therapist. For most, videoconferencing sessions are every bit as effective as in-person sessions. Please contact us if you are interested in setting up virtual sessions. We will provide all the information you need to get started.
